The Pentagon has released the names of four of the six service members killed in a drone strike in over the weekend.
Four of the U.S. Army Reserve soldiers were killed Sunday when a drone struck a command center in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait. The attack happened just a day after the United States and Israel launched a military campaign against Iran.
Officials say the victims were identified as Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida; Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; and Spc. Declan J. Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, Iowa.
Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff says he is concerned about what he believes is shifting reasoning for the military action in Iran.
“With an immense gratitude for all who serve, we pray for the survival and recovery of the wounded, and for the safety and success of American servicemembers engaged in combat,” Ossoff said. “While I intend to support this week’s war powers resolution to assert the proper authority of Congress over war and peace and to rein in the administration.”
Atlanta City Councilwoman Liliana Bakhtiari reacted to the military strike in Iran over the weekend.
“There are too many factors right now to know what’s going to happen next, but what I hope will occur is the establishment of a true democracy,” Bakhtiari said.
Law enforcement agencies in cities across the country, including Atlanta, are on alert as tensions continue overseas.
The State Department is urging Americans in 14 Middle Eastern countries including Saudi Arabia, Israel, Jordan and the UAE to “depart now” due to serious safety risks.
