ATLANTA — It’s official. Travelers without a REAL ID will now have to a $45 fee to go through TSA checkpoints at airports beginning in 2026.

TSA officials announced on Monday that the new fee will go into effect Feb. 1. An $18 fee was originally proposed last month.

To pay the fee, travelers will need to visit the site here to verify their identity before they head to the airport. Travelers will then receive an email confirmation to present at the TSA checkpoint.
