BLACKSBURG, VA — So, should you go for a run or lift weights today?

A new study shows weight training may be more beneficial to weight loss and preventing Type 2 diabetes than running.

Scientists at Virginia Tech conducted an experiment on mice and found that running and weightlifting both improved blood sugar control, but weight training was even more effective at reducing body fat than running.

The lead researcher says folks should try for both endurance and resistance exercise to get the most health benefits.
