MONTREAL — The airline industry expects a record number of passengers in 2026.

The International Air Transport Association forecasts passenger numbers will reach 5.2 billion, a 4.4% increase from this year.

Air cargo volumes should increase almost 2.5%.

Airlines had feared their profits would take a hit from this year’s tariffs and trade wars.
