Could the next tropical storm of the Atlantic hurricane season bear down on Georgia?
WSB Meteorologist Kirk Mellish is watching "Beryl" develop off the coast.
"If it does become Tropical Storm Beryl, it will only be the third time in history that two storms have formed before the official start of the season," says Mellish. "Looks like the chance of rain is lower here in Atlanta and the mountains and higher from the coast of North Carolina down to Florida including the panhandle especially Sunday and Monday."
At its current track, Beryl could make landfall this weekend and Brunswick, Georgia is in the cone of uncertainty. Stay with WSB for the latest track.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration projects up to 15 named storms this season. Between four and eight will likely develop into hurricanes.
