While this is the coldest so far for the Winter of 2021-2022, it pales in comparison to January 7, 2014 when the actual temperature registered 6 degrees at the Atlanta Airport. This is still the officially coldest temperature for January 6 in Atlanta’s history.
Meanwhile, other January mornings have registered negative digit temperatures in previous years.
Looking ahead to next week, temperatures are expected to drop again into the mid to upper 20s after a cold front pushes through on Sunday night.
