Top-ranked Georgia stayed unbeaten Saturday with a 55-0 homecoming win against Vanderbilt.

Bulldogs’ quarterback Stetson Bennett completed 24-30 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns as the Bulldogs improved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the SEC.

Bennett connected with eight different receivers on the day with his two TD passes going to Kenny McIntosh and Dominick Blaylock.

Bennett’s backup, Carson Beck, came on in the 3rd quarter throwing for 98 yards and two touchdowns, the first to freshman Dillon Bell and the second to sophomore Arik Gilbert.

Overall, the Georgia offense finished with a season high of 579 yards.

“I was really impressed with the performance early,” said Georgia head coach Kirby Smart. “I thought Stetson had good rhythm, he was more accurate. We ran the ball, we mixed run and pass, and we got to play a lot of players.”

The Georgia defense also registered another dominant performance keeping Vandy off the scoreboard for the second straight game in the series.

Dating back to 2019, Georgia has held Vandy scoreless for 10 straight quarters having outscored the Commodores 126-0 during that stretch.

The Commodores finished the game with just 150 yards of total offense, 230 yards below their season average.

“A very frustrating afternoon,” said Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea.” The team is frustrated. The staff is frustrated. Part of the challenge here now is to accept the result as an indicator of where we are. It doesn’t have to be where we are headed. Moving beyond this quickly, but take it and learn from it and prepare to go on the road again next week.”

Vanderbilt falls to 3-4 on the year and 0-3 in the conference.

Georgia gets back in action October 29 against Florida. The game is set for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff in Jacksonville. The Commodores stay on the road next Saturday as they take on Missouri.
