Late former Kennesaw State basketball coach to be honored by American Conference

ATLANTA — The American Conference is set to honor the late former Kennesaw State basketball coach at a game between South Florida and Temple University on Thursday evening.

The family of Amir Abdur Rahim are set to receive the honorary men’s basketball coach of the year award in his honor, according to officials.

The conference are also set to add Abdur-Rahim’s name to its annual sportsmanship award.

Abdur-Rahim coached the Owls for four seasons.

He left KSU to coach South Florida in 2023 after leading the Owls to their first ever NCAA tournament appearance.

Abdur-Rahim died in 2024. He was 43.
