Woman accused of attempting to abduct child during Toledo Mud Hens game

TOLEDO, Ohio — An Ohio woman is accused of attempting to abduct a child during a Toledo Mud Hens minor league baseball game on Saturday, authorities said.

Hannah Barbara Carpenter, 34, of Liberty Center, was charged with attempted abduction, WTVG reported.

According to police, the incident happened at about 6:20 p.m. at Fifth Third Field in Toledo. Police said that Carpenter allegedly grabbed a stroller with a child “in an attempt to take the child that was in it,” according to Lucas County court records.

Police did not indicate whether the incident occurred inside or outside of the park WTVG reported.

The Mud Hens (1-1), who were playing their second game of the season, lost 6-1 to the St. Paul Saints on Saturday, according to the team’s website.

Carpenter will be arraigned in court on Monday, according to WTVG.

Police did not release any other information about the incident.
