Macy’s plans to close four stores nationwide during the first quarter of 2023, the company told Axios.

The closings are part of the plan announced in 2020 to restructure the company and close more than 120 stores.

The stores set to be shuttered are in shopping malls in California, Colorado, Hawaii and Maryland.

A spokesperson for the retailer told Axios that those stores will hold clearance sales beginning this month that will run for eight to 12 weeks. Employees at the stores that will be closed will be offered roles at nearby stores or will be offered a severance package, according to the spokesperson.

The stores set to close are:

• California: Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza in Los Angeles
• Colorado: Foothills Mall in Fort Collins
• Hawaii: Windward Center in Oahu
• Maryland: Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg

As the larger Macy’s locations have closed, the retailer has been opening smaller format stores called Market by Macy’s. The company opened four Market by Macy’s locations in 2022.

Last week, the retailer announced that Pure Beauty Salons, a chain that operates in some Macy’s stores, will no longer be in 20 of its stores.

“After careful consideration, Macy’s and Pure Beauty have decided to discontinue their partnership in approximately 20 locations. Pure Beauty Salon’s last day of operation is Dec. 31, 2022. These decisions are always difficult but Pure Beauty at Macy’s is grateful to have served our communities and our customers.”
