OUACHITA PARISH, La. — A northern Louisiana man is behind bars after deputies said he set fire to his girlfriend earlier this month.
According to KNOE-TV, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred March 5 on Smith Street. Authorities said Joshua Randall White Jr., 18, of West Monroe, was drinking alcohol with his girlfriend when he poured an “unknown liquid” on her and set her ablaze, the news station reported.
The responding deputy said the victim was severely burned on parts of her head, neck, chin and hair, KNOE reported. She said White told her he wanted to find out what it was like to set fire to someone, the arrest report said.
White was arrested Tuesday and charged with one felony count of domestic abuse battery, according to the sheriff’s office booking website. His bond was set at $25,000.
