BATH TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with a murder in 2018 of a deer hunter in Michigan.

Thomas Olson, 34, and Robert Rodway, 34, was arrested Wednesday evening by the Michigan State Police Fugitive Team for a cold case murder of Chong Yang, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced in a news release.

Olson and Rodway were arraigned Thursday and charged with a count of felony murder and a count of felony firearm, according to the AG’s office. If convicted for felony murder, the suspects could be facing a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Yang’s body was found on Nov. 16, 2018, in Bath Township, Michigan, according to WDIV. it was deer hunting season in the area. Yang, 68, was a frequent hunter in the area and his wife was reportedly alarmed that he did not come home.

Police went out to the hunting area where they located his car in the parking lot with multiple footprints, which led officers to his body, according to WDIV.

According to WDIV, Yang’s headlamp,knife, backpack and shotgun were all reportedly missing.

“The Bath Township Police Department worked closely with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other local agencies and prosecutors to gather evidence, establish a timeline of events, and locate the defendants,” said Nessel in the news release. “I am grateful for their persistence and hard work in pursuing this case. Chong Yang’s family deserves justice, and we are working hard to make sure they receive it.”

The AG’s office said that both Olson and Rodway are being held without bond. Both are scheduled for a probable cause conference on Jan. 5 and a preliminary hearing on Jan. 12.

No further information has been released, including how the suspects were connected to the murder.
