Like Hollywood and New York, movie making is big business in Georgia.
It should get even bigger thanks to new sound-stages at the old Lakewood Fairgrounds in Southwest Atlanta.
"The tax incentive in the movie industry has saved my family," said Carpenter Pat Oldknow, one of 250 people working at Lakewood, where E-U-E Screen Gems is building a sixth sound-stage for TV and movies.
Scott Griffin owns a construction company that renovates and builds for filmmaking.
"Since June, 2010, we've had about five projects here and we've probably employed 300 people," Griffin said.
"Right now we have probably 250 people working on the lot, and that's going to go up over the next couple of months," said Chris Crowder, director of operations for E-U-E Screen Gems.
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed told Channel 2 Action News the city is working with the film industry to streamling permits.
"They need things turned around in 24 to 48 hours for site locations and we'd like to be responsive," said Mayor Reed.
Construction workers at Lakewood say the movie jobs include good pay, good benefits and insurance.
