GORDON COUNTY, Ga. — One small town in north Georgia’s Gordon County has been dissolved.
Governor Brian Kemp signed a bill into law earlier this week that removes the charter for the Town of Ranger, Ga.
Representatives Matt Barton (R-Calhoun), Jason Ridley (R-Chatsworth) and Rick Jasperse (R-Jasper) first brought House Bill 773 before the Georgia General Assembly in March.
According to census data, the town of Ranger had a total population of 107 in 2021.
The charter was granted to Ranger, officially making it a town, in April 1979.
The Gordon County Government says they will now take over providing governmental services to the people of the former town.
