President Trump rallies in Rome: “We’re going to win”

With less than 48 hours to go before Election Day, President Donald Trump flew into Georgia Sunday night in his hopes to ensure the state goes his way.

Mr. Trump rallied supporters at the Richard B. Russell Airport in Rome, taking the stage a few minutes after 9 p.m., speaking for a little under an hour.

“In 2016 Georgia, you elected an outsider as President who is putting America first,” the president told the crowd. “We’re going to win.”

He told supporters he predicts a “red wave” and believes he’ll do better than four years ago.

The president took aim at Democratic challenger Joe Biden, saying the election “is a choice between a depression and a boom. A vote for Biden is a vote for lockdowns, layoffs, and misery,” Mr. Trump said.

He took time to acknowledge Georgia Republicans running for office, including David Perdue, Kelly Loeffler and Doug Collins in their Senate races, among others.

The president closed his rally, telling the crowd “we will make America great again. Thank you Georgia, go out and vote.”

President Trump’s visit to Georgia so close to Election Day highlights how close polling is in this state. The most recent exclusive Channel 2 Action News/Landmark Communications poll shows Mr. Trump with a 48% to 47% lead on Biden. The survey was of 750 likely voters, with a margin of error of 3.6%.

Democrats feel there is a real chance to turn Georgia their way. Biden running mate Kamala Harris rallied in Gwinnett County Sunday afternoon. Monday, former president Barack Obama visits Atlanta.
