Addressing the nation from the site of a famous military battle from the War of 1812, Vice President Mike Pence set the stage for President Donald Trump's acceptance speech, telling the GOP convention on Wednesday night that four more years of the Trump Administration is the right tonic to help the nation rebound from the Coronavirus outbreak.
“Who do you trust to rebuild this economy?” Pence said from Fort McHenry in Baltimore, where a battle witnessed by Francis Scott Key brought forth the Star Spangled Banner.
"A career politician who presided over the slowest economic recovery since the Great Depression? Or a proven leader who created the greatest economy in the world?" Pence asked.
“Where Joe Biden sees American darkness, we see American greatness,” Pence said with the President looking on from the audience.
“President Donald Trump has kept his word to the American people,” Pence added, as he lavished praise on the Trump Administration’s response to the Coronavirus.

A tale of two conventions: Democrats put COVID front & center & everything is socially distanced/virtual. The Republicans treat COVID as pandemic in decline, offering a mix of in-person events, including @VP's speech, in front of live audience

“The choice is clear,” Pence said, as the audience chanted “Four more years!” “Our agenda is based on freedom.”
“You won’t be safe in Joe Biden’s America,” Pence said, criticizing Biden for not denouncing street violence during the Democratic convention.
Pence blasted Biden specifically on foreign policy and criticism over the Coronavirus, as the Vice President’s remarks capped the third night of the GOP convention, drastically altered by the virus outbreak.
By video, and back at an auditorium in Washington, a series of White House officials and GOP elected officials echoed the Vice President in arguing that Biden is beholden to a group of left-wing radicals in the Democratic Party.
“When you consider their agenda, it’s clear: Joe Biden would be nothing more than a Trojan horse for a radical left,” said the Vice President.
The bottom line was simple.
"We must re-elect President Trump," said Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY). "And losing is not an option."
“He’s fighting for you,” said South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.
