Heavily armed man, identified as Justin Talton, 31, refused to surrender to police at a Hall County Motel 6 on Monroe Drive.

According to authorities a call came in around 10 a.m. from a family member of the suspect who called 911. Police say the Talton was a bail bondsman who has not worked in quite some time.

“It is clear that the individual has a number of firearms in the room,” said Corporal Holbrook, of Gainesville police.

According to officials the Talton fired a shot, but police did not return fire.

Holbrook said they evacuated the hotel and made sweeps to ensure all occupants were safe.

SWAT teams were also on the scene and worked with police to try and negotiate.

No reports of anyone hurt on the scene.

The suspect surrendered without incident around 12:45 p.m.
