Man in Joker makeup arrested after making threats on Facebook Live

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. — A man dressed in a Joker costume was taken into custody Monday for making threats while on Facebook Live.

Jeremy Garnier, 51, was charged with first-degree making terrorist threats after witnesses told police that he was making threats while livestreaming himself inside a business in University City, Missouri.

Initially police responded to the scene in response to an active shooter call, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The livestream post allegedly showed Garnier getting into costume, then driving in a car and arriving at the St. Louis Galleria before being told to leave by security. He arrived at the Blueberry Hill restaurant on Delmar, according to charging documents obtained by the Post-Dispatch, and was taken into custody.

Garnier is being held without bail, according to court records.

Transcript from his video can be found on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch here.
