The body of a 75-year-old Douglas County woman was found dead and hog-tied inside her apartment Monday night, according to police.

Relatives told Channel 2's Amy Napier Viteri they found Florene Duke in her Countryside Manor apartment on Selman Drive around 6 p.m. Investigators have not yet determined how she was killed or a motive.

Relatives went to check on Florene Duke at her apartment after being unable to reach her Monday evening.

The victim's grandson, Chris Duke, says he's can't believe she was found dead.

"I didn't believe it because my grandma wouldn't hurt a fly," he said.

Relatives described Florene Duke as a kind, generous woman with no enemies, though one neighbor said someone came into the victim's apartment and stole her wallet earlier this year.  He says his grandmother enjoyed her independence and had lived at the residence about five years. He doesn't know who would want to hurt her, but wants the person caught.

“She got a little dog and she just walked her dog everyday about twice a day and just sat on the couch and watched TV,” Duke said. "They need to be off the street, whoever did this."

Investigators were preparing to execute a search warrant at the apartment around 8 p.m. Officers were canvassing the area and interviewing others in the complex, located about a half-mile from Douglas County High School.

They say some of the victim's items, a couple of televisions, appeared to have been taken from the apartment. Authorities have not identified any suspects in the killing.

Police haven't mentioned any leads, but plan to work around the clock on this case and investigators made it clear they will catch the person who murdered the woman.

The crime scene unit wrapped up their portion of the investigation early Tuesday morning, but the homicide unit is expected to return for their investigation.
