SNELLVILLE, Ga. — Snellville residents approved a referendum to allow liquor sales in the city.
Before the referendum passed, only beer and wine sales were permitted.
According to the city, unofficially, residents approved the referendum 485-226.
Voters were asked: “Shall the governing authority of the City of Snellville, Georgia be authorized to issue licenses for the package sale of distilled spirits within the city limits of the City of Snellville?”
The mayor and city council will determine the process of awarding liquor licenses to businesses through a new local ordinance, as well as the number of licenses to be awarded.
The days and hours that liquor sales will be permitted will also be determined in the new law.
