DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County fire confirms that no one was injured when a small plane crashed along North Decatur Road this morning.
The fire spokesperson said the pilot walked away uninjured after his single engine aircraft went down around 10 a.m. The location is along DeKalb Industrial Way, in front of Coventry Place retirement community.
Pictures from the scene shows the small plane upside in the road.
A witness at the scene told Channel 2 Action News the plane clipped a power line along the road before crashing. Another witness said plane barely missed hitting the retirement home building.
Fire spokesperson said the plane took off from DeKalb Peachtree Airport and then later crashed.
Georgia Power shows about 2,500 people without power in the area.
The road is shut down from DeKalb Industrial Way to Wynn Way.
