HALL COUNTY, GA — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says several parks and day-use areas around Lake Lanier are closing this weekend due to the ongoing government shutdown.

Officials say campers are being asked to leave by 3 p.m.

The affected parks include the Van Pugh South campground, the Little River day use area and Buford Dam Park.

Gates will be secured and ungated areas will be clearly marked as closed.
