UNION CITY, GA — South Fulton police are investigating after a CSX train collided with a semi-truck in Union City on Wednesday afternoon.

Around 2:25 p.m., authorities from Union City and South Fulton responded to reports of truck that collided with a train near the intersection of Stonewall Tell Road and Westbrook Road.

Union City fire crews say a driver was ejected from truck upon impact. The driver, whose identity was not released, was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital.

“Two individuals inside the train were injured and two individuals inside the tractor-trailer were injured. Of the four victims, three have serious injuries and one of them is in critical condition,” said a South Fulton Police spokesperson.

Union City Fire Department officials say Fairburn Fire Tanker 24 “played a key role by supporting water operations to ensure continuous suppression efforts. We are incredibly proud of the strong inter-agency cooperation during this complex response.”

Police and CSX personnel are continuing to investigate.

South Fulton Fire Rescue officials said motorists should expect delays in the area and to seek alternate routes if possible.
