ATLANTA — Atlanta-based RaceTrac announces a merger that will make the sandwich chain Potbelly a lot bigger.

Potbelly announced on Wednesday that it would be acquired by the convenience store operator in a $566M deal.

Potbelly has 445 locations in about 30 states and a long-term goal of reaching 2,000 shops nationwide.

RaceTrac has 800 stores in 14 states under the racetrack at Raceway brands, as well as 1,200 golf branded gas stations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
