Henry County Police want to talk to a mother and her son in connection with a murder. The victim's body was found in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart in Stockbridge on Saturday.

Sgt. Joey Smith tells WSB a man who worked at a nearby business made the discovery after noticing a strong odor coming from the vehicle.

"Our victim was left in an abandoned van," says Smith. "Evidently, he had been there for probably six days before anyone realized that he was there."

The man had been shot to death. He has not yet been positively identified, but he apparently knew 54-year-old Marta Luz Diaz and her son, 32-year-old Jose Trinidad Bercian-Diaz.

"Right now, they're just persons of interest," says Smith. "They are close acquaintances of our victim, and we want to contact them to try to get some information about the death or some of his dealings in the past."

Police are reviewing surveillance video from the Wal-Mart.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 770-288-8200.
