Though many people think Georgia has the worst roads in the country, a new report says it’s quite the opposite.

According to QuoteWizard, when it comes to roadways and bridges, Georgia has the best infrastructure in the country.

“Our team of analysts found that poor roads and bridges cost drivers an average of $556 every year. Nationwide, nearly 20% of America’s roads and 5% of bridges are currently in unacceptable condition,” QuoteWizard said.

The company said they looked at things like the cost of repairing roads and the cost of repairing your car to help come up with their formula for looking at the states with the worst road infrastructure.

“It’s estimated that driving on poor-condition roads costs each driver $533 in vehicle repairs and operating costs. If road conditions contribute to a crash, that can get even more expensive,” the report said.

According to QuoteWizard, Rhode Island, West Virginia, Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut made up the top five worst states for road infrastructure.

In order: Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and Nevada made up the best states for road infrastructure.

When it comes to the cost to drive in each state, Georgia was the fifth cheapest, with drivers paying about $375 a year to drive in the state.

The most expensive was Rhode Island where it costs $845 a year for drivers in that state.
