Strong to severe storms rolled through metro Atlanta Friday afternoon.

Around 1:30PM, The FAA issued a ground stop at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport until 3PM.

Around 1PM, the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch that will be in effect for the metro Atlanta area until 8PM.

Channel 2 Action News Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitzs says the day started with a few showers, but damaging wind gusts and possible hail were a potential threat between 10AM and 3PM for the north metro to the south metro area.

Similar to the storms earlier in the week, a brief, spin up tornado could also have been a possibility.
