Police say since a Gwinnett County contractor was charged with ripping off a Snellville homeowner in July, the list of victims continues to grow as well as the potential for more charges to be filed against him.

Gene Gore, 57, was charged with theft by conversation in July for taking close to $4,000 from Susan Barbee and not completing the work on her home.  She got suspicious when a supplier repossessed the materials for the project due a lack of payment.

Now, Snellville Police investigators say close to ten other victims have come forward including another homeowner, subcontractors, suppliers, and two businesses saying they too have been defrauded by Gore.

Alen and Melissa Delic own All Star Steamer in Grayson and paid Gore $35,000 in 2009 to renovate their business.

He hired subcontractors to install a septic system, pour concrete, and landscape the house-turned-office, but according to the Delics never paid for any of the work.

Melissa found out when two liens were placed against the property.

“Financially it hurt us a lot because he took our cash… and then we had to pay more to fix what he did not do,” she tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish.

The Delics won a civil judgment against Gore for $175,000 but have never been able to collect any of the money.

The couple has been to court close to a dozen times not only for their case but to challenge bankruptcy filings by Gore.  They say it’s no longer about the money, but making sure Gore can’t take advantage of anyone else.

Snellville Det. Orlando Concepcion says the department will be turning over the files it has collected from the other victims to the Gwinnett County and Lilburn Police Departments for possibly more charges against Gore in those jurisdictions.
