A Marietta native launches a nationwide company aimed at reducing food waste at the farm level and providing fresh, organic produce to consumers at prices about 30-40 percent less than what you'd find in the grocery store.

Misfits Market has been operating in several areas around the country for a while, but will make it's first splash in the south eastern United States, Monday, October 21st.

The idea is simple according to founder and CEO Abhi Ramesh - work with farmers to purchase fruits and veggies that are deemed misfits... i.e. to small, surplus, misshaped, blemished, but still good, buy those from farmers who would otherwise trash them, then ship them to customers all around the country.

The orders come in two size boxes - small which provides food for a 1 to 2 people or large, that could feed a family of four or five.

Customers are able to choose their box size and frequency of when they want their box delivered to their home.

Customers can choose from a surprise option, where they'll get an unknown variety of fruits and veggies - or - they can log onto the site and choose from up to 40 options of what they want in their box.
