Janet Jackson’s Thursday concert at State Farm Arena has been rescheduled after the Atlanta Hawks’ late-game heroics extended their series with the Boston Celtics.
With the Hawks’ last-second upset 119-117 win over the Celtics, State Farm Arena will now host Game 6 of that series on Thursday, instead of Jackson’s concert. Organizers have postponed Jackson’s concert to Friday.
The first of two Atlanta stops on Jackson’s “Together Again” tour will still take place on Wednesday night.
Jackson’s new Friday concert date now goes head-to-head with the first leg of Taylor Swift’s three-date Atlanta tour run next door at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
We’re told you can expect massive traffic jams this weekend and challenges getting rideshares. Organizers are encouraging concertgoers to plan in advance and consider taking MARTA:
MARTA Guide
- All MARTA fares must be purchased with a Breeze card or Breeze ticket, according to MARTA’s website.
- Breeze cards are $2 and may be reloaded for up to 3 years.
- Breeze tickets are $1 for single-use only.
- MARTA fare is $2.50 for a one-way trip but officials say your options don’t stop there. MARTA has passes and special fare programs designed to fit everyone’s needs. Read more here.
- MARTA RideStores and Breeze Vending Machines both sell Breeze Cards in person.
- Breeze Vending Machines are located all across MARTA stations to make them a convenient choice for commuters on the go.
- MARTA made its new mobile app live earlier this month, featuring the ability to pay for rides via your smartphone. According to MARTA, the “Breeze Mobile 2.0″ app is available both on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Organizers also highly recommend that you purchase your parking in advance for whichever event you’re attending. Click here for Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s advance parking and here for parking info from State Farm Arena.
“This is such an exciting time for the city with world-class events between Hawks Playoff basketball, Janet Jackson and Taylor Swift in downtown Atlanta,” State Farm Arena Executive Vice President of Arena Programming Trey Feazell said in a statement. “We are committed to ensuring all of our guests have a great night out at each of our events and are working with our partners to provide the most seamless experience possible.”
All tickets for Jackson’s Thursday night’s show will be honored for Friday night’s show, according to a news release from the Hawks and State Farm Arena.
Refunds will be available for those who are unable to attend.
