Harris touts Biden’s climate record in Atlanta visit

In a panel discussion on the Georgia Tech campus, Vice President Kamala Harris highlighted the Biden Administration’s efforts on environmental issues.

“It is, I think, one of the most pressing issues of our time,” Harris said. “This is the planet we’ve got; it is a precious place; it is a place that we have a responsibility for taking care of.”

Harris touted specific items included in the bipartisan infrastructure bill that passed last year, including provisions that call for replacing the nation’s lead pipes.

“Our goal with the infrastructure money is to get rid of all lead pipes and service lines within the next nine years,” she said. “It’s an environmental issue...and it’s also a public health issue.”

Harris explained that the administration’s goal is to get the job done. “But do it in a way that it is inclusive in that we are asking the communities that are affected to lead and not telling them what we’re going to do for them.”
