GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A metro Atlanta middle school is charging children money to wear a Halloween costume, according to a notice on their website.
Bay Creek Middle School in Gwinnett County posted an announcement on the school website that students can pay a cash-only fee and turn in a permission slip to be allowed to wear costumes on Halloween, which is Monday, Oct. 31.
The school did not say where the cash payments would go or if the payments were part of a school fundraiser. They did say the fees were non-refundable.
Students are asked to sign a detailed form listing the rules for what is allowed and what isn’t.
Conditions for costumes include that they are ‘school-friendly;’ must not feature a full face mask, sword or lightsaber; may not drag the ground; and must not disrupt school activities, among other requirements. The forms must be signed by both the parent and the student.
