The search is on for a man in Gwinnett County who had more than a craving for a pack of cigarettes. Gwinnett County Police Corporal Wilbert Rundles says the man came into a gas station on Rockbridge Road near Stone Mountain with a specific brand in mind.
"The suspect comes into the gas station and wants to buy some cigarettes, wants to buy a pack of Newport 100's. The clerk asks for his identification and he claims he doesn't have it, but he'll go get it," said Rundles.
About ten minutes later, the man comes back in after a wardrobe change.
"When he was first in there, he had on a black shirt, black pants, black and red shoes, and had like a white shirt over his head. But when he returned, now he has a hat with long, floppy ears on the side," said Rundles.
He also has a gun and robs the clerk of $200 and walks out.
Rundles says they're not exactly sure the motive behind the man's actions.
"You know, maybe he wasn't able to commit that crime earlier. Now, he had mentally prepared himself to do so. Or, now he was ready to get his cigarettes that he desperately needed or wanted and then he ended up victimizing the young lady there in business by robbing it," said Rundles.
In the end, while he got away with money, he didn't take any cigarettes.
