A challenge by a gun rights group prompts Carroll County commissioners to revise the county disaster ordinance.
The Times-Georgian newspaper reports commissioners are now prepared to eliminate sale of firearms from a list of items the commission chairman has the authority to suspend in case of local disaster or emergency. County Attorney Cynthia Daley reviewed the wording after a written prompt from GeorgiaCarry.org.
Daley told commissioners in a work session this week, there could be a conflict with the Second Amendment and she recommends revising the ordinance and striking the firearms reference.
The Board of Commissioners could act as early as next week.
