FULTON COUNTY- Fulton County Schools are launching a major redistricting effort.

Meetings held this week will discuss the redistricting process, but school officials say that no maps or proposals will be offered.

After these initial discussions, the school district will hold three rounds of meetings to come up with new school attendance lines. The county estimates close to four dozen schools on the northside and three dozen on the southside could be affected.

The basis for redistricting is to balance enrollment. New attendance lines would take effect next school year.
