ATLANTA — The FBI in Atlanta is urging families to start a new holiday tradition this year to protect themselves from scams.

FBI Special Agent Daniel Polk says always do a little investigating before buying something online, especially if that sounds too good to be true.

“The first thing that we tell people is don’t trust promoted links,” said Polk. "

He also warns of shipping notices that don’t seem to come from well-known companies.
