GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — The family of a Gwinnett County man shot and killed while driving to work still grieves his loss, and are still trying to make sense of the murder.
Don Wardlaw was shot and killed around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan 27.
Gwinnett Police say he crashed his SUV into the front yard of a home on Rockbridge Road. Officers arrived to find he died from a shooting, not the crash.
“It’s still shock, still very fresh,” Danielle McKinley, the victim’s sister-in-law, said.
The family also says the death had a great impact on his two teenage children, a 19-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter. McKinley said Wardlaw was his son’s hero.
“Bryce won’t have that ever again, and Sierra was her daddy’s girl,” McKinley said.
As the family prepares for a funeral out of state this weekend, they thank those who have now donated thousands of dollars to help the surviving children with help for counseling and college.
