Extra security presence at Newnan High School after threat found on bathroom wall

NEWNAN, Ga. — Newnan High School parents and students will notice an increased security presence on Thursday.

The school confirmed on Wednesday that graffiti with a bomb threat was found in a bathroom on the main campus.

Principal Chase Puckett said the students who found the note notified the staff, and the school launched an immediate investigation and search of the school.

Puckett said the school would operate as usual, but there will be extra law enforcement at the central and Cougar Village campuses.

The principal also thanked the students for coming forward immediately when they found the note.

“We also appreciate the students who brought this to our attention today and are working with us,” Puckett said. “We strongly encourage parents to discuss with their children the seriousness of this type of act and the serious and lifelong legal consequences that are attached to such actions.”

He added that the school would update families as more information becomes available.
