Dunwood Police have released new information regarding yesterday's officer involved shooting.

The man who was shot was 34-year-old Brady Almy, of Marietta, and the officer who shot Almy was Sergeant Jason Dove.  Dove has been with the Dunwood Police Department since its inception in March 2009.

On Wednesday Dunwoody Police say Almy was  driving reckless through the parking lot at 41 Perimeter Center East.  Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over and a pursuit followed.  Police say during the pursuit, Almy refused to stop and drove recklessly through parking lots and on several streets disregarding the safety of pedestrians and the public.

At Ashford Dunwoody Road and Perimeter Center East, the suspect's vehicle rammed several cars and two officers on foot approached his car and attempted to stop him. Almy continued to strike other cars moving back and forth and police say fearing for the safety of pedestrians and the officers, Sergeant Jason Dove fired one shot at the suspect.

The Marietta man continued to strike additional cars and was able to continue through traffic and turned onto Perimeter Center East.

His car eventually struck a light pole in front of Savannah Park Apartments, on Perimeter Center East, and came to a stop.

Officers immediately detained the suspect and began administering first aid.    The suspect was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
