Convicted felon who authorities say shot 2 south Georgia deputies arrested

THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. — A man who has been on the run for almost a week in south Georgia has been captured.

Authorities in Thomas County say Tyler Henderson shot two of their deputies last week.

The sheriff’s office says three of their deputies were serving a warrant to Henderson when he got hold of one of their guns and shot at the deputies, striking two of them. Both are expected to survive.

On Sunday, the sheriff’s office announced Henderson had been located and taken into custody with the help of “what seems like every Law Enforcement Agency in the area (and the US MARSHALS).”

According to the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office, Henderson was on probation for robbery, aggravated assault and burglary charges. The warrant was connected to another arrest in Decatur County last month.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was also involved in the search for Henderson, issuing a statewide Blue Alert to alert all agencies to look out for him.

A $10,000 reward was also being offered for his arrest.

The circumstances surrounding the arrest and what charges he will face are not clear at this time.
