COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County police are currently investigating an officer-involved shooting along Powder Springs Road.
Police say officers made a traffic stop on a stolen car. During the stop, an officer fired at the suspect and killed him.
Investigators have not commented on what led to shots being fired during the incident.
Identities of the suspect who was killed and the officer have not been released.
Police say that Powder Springs Road is currently shut down between Garrison Road and Sandtown Road. Drivers should avoid the area.

Cameras in the area show more than a dozen police cars and a fire truck on the scene. Both Cobb County police and sheriff’s deputies are among those on the scene.

Marietta City Schools says that the road closure will impact some of their bus routes. Some of the buses have been diverted to Park Street Elementary Schools. Some students at Marietta Center for Advanced Academics and Marietta Sixth Grade Academy will be required to remain at the school. Parents will be contacted to pick up their children from those locations.
