One day after she ordered the 35 members of her cabinet to hand in their resignations, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms explained the changes she plans for her administration and the timeline for completion.

Bottoms said she is nearing her 100th day in office, and this is a good time to make decisions about who will stay and who will leave her administration. She confirmed that all city officials in her cabinet had their letters of resignation on her desk by the end of business Monday. The mayor stressed this is not a clean sweep of her staff.

“There will be resignations that I will not accept,” Bottoms said Tuesday.

Mayor Bottoms says some staff members are planning to leave on their own, others may be asked to move to a different position.

“I really believe it is about having the right people on the bus and then figuring out the right seat for them,” she said.

The mayor also said reports that the decision will be made by the end of this week are incorrect. She said she would talk with every member of her cabinet this week and then make a decision on staffing over time.
