An Atlanta man is searching for his beloved pets after his stolen SUV was recovered without them inside.

Duncan Cross has had a bad week. While at the vet with his three cats Blaze, Bella and Bode, he received a call that his terminally ill father in Canada had taken a turn for the worse.

Leaving the vet, Cross stopped by Pet Smart on Howell Mill, where his SUV was stolen with the cats inside.

Police have since recovered the car, but the cats are still missing.

And now the search is on by people Cross does not even now. “The redeeming moment is how much the community has just rallied; and the support we’ve gotten,” Cross says.

He adds, “Strangers, that I’ve never met who are out there with their kids, looking around in the forest for signs of their carriers.

“Folks I’ve never met before going to shelters looking for the cats and see if they might have them. We’ve got a group of people doing outreach by phone, by email.”

Cross also tells 95.5 WSB’s Michelle Wright that he is offering a reward for information leading to their safe return.
