Accused Athens cop killer Jamie Hood wants out of the Barrow County jail.  At a motions hearing Tuesday, his court-appointed lawyer asked that Hood be moved to the DeKalb County jail instead.

A shackled Hood told a judge he's being held in "punishing" conditions:  his cell is too cold; he's not allowed to send letters, only postcards; and he claims he's coughing up blood. 

The jailer says Hood's had medical attention, and his cell is the same temperature as all the others, 72-degrees. 

Hood faces the death penalty.  He's accused of murdering Athens-Clarke County officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian and shooting and wounding Officer Tony Howard last spring.  He later took eight hostages before surrendering on live radio and TV.

The judge may a ruling later today.
