Gwinnett County police investigators now say the same group of teens is responsible for as many as four robberies of high-end sneakers around the Sweetwater Road/Club Drive area.
Det. Nicholas Boney testified Watkins testified at the probable cause hearing of one the suspects, 17-year-old Tyrese Watkins, on Tuesday.
He said in all the cases the teens would contact the victims who placed ads on Facebook.
“The amount that they’re willing to pay is always above market if they’ll meet them right then,” Boney testified.
He says the price of the shoes would range from $150-$200, but are available at retail shoes.
In at least two of the cases, a gun was used in the robbery.
In the latest incident the week before Christmas, Boney says Watkins along with a 16-year-old suspect offered to pay $280 for the pair of Air Jordan 6 Golden Moments.
“He was shown the shoes, he took the shoes, and took off,” says Boney.
The victim told police the other suspect pointed a gun at him, but Watkins told officers he knew nothing about a gun.
Boney says the same gun is believed to have been used in a previous robbery.
The magistrate ruled there is enough evidence against Watkins to bind the case over to Superior Court.  Another suspect, 20-year-old Rashawn Jones, is also charged.  The 16-year-old and a 15-year-old are charged right now as juveniles.
