Former prosecutor faces disbarment, more trouble

A former prosecutor who authorities say showed up stoned in court last month now faces disbarment. That may not be the worst of his troubles either.

When Rand Csehy stood up before Cobb County Judge Adele Grubbs last month, she could see something was very wrong.

“He appeared disheveled, perspiring profusely, bloodshot and unable to stand without leaning on the podium,” said WSB legal analyst Philip Holloway, reading from the court’s findings. Judge Grubbs ordered Csehy be drug tested. He showed positive for cocaine and amphetamines. She sentenced him to five days in jail.

Now, the Georgia State Bar wants Csehy’s law license revoked.

"The Bar is taking a very, very hard line on this one,” Holloway observed.

Csehy, already on probation for drug and weapons convictions earlier this year, contends Judge Grubbs had no right to drug test him because he was not the defendant in any case. The State Supreme Court will hear his disbarment case in February.
