Atlanta Police are hoping someone may recognize a man who threatened to rape a woman at a local park. The attempted attack happened on December 6th, around 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
"A female was walking inside Piedmont Park when she was threatened by an unknown male who stated to her that he wanted to rape her," said Officer John Chafee.
Specifically, the man said, "I'm wanted to rape you! Slut!"
Chafee says the victim took off running.
"The female immediately ran away from him in a direction that she knew there were other people. And there was a witness that saw the male chasing her that chased after the male and attempted to catch him," said Chafee.
The suspect, described as a black male wearing a light brown shirt, blue jeans, and carrying a black backpack, got away.
Chafee says there are no reports of similar incidents in the area.
Anyone who has any information is asked to contact the Atlanta Police Special Victims Unit at 404-546-4260 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
