One person was killed and another suffered burns in an overnight fire that destroyed a mobile home in Douglas County.
The fire broke out just before 2 a.m. Tuesday in a trailer on Riverside Drive.
Douglas County spokesman Wes Tallon tells firefightrers were on scene in five minutes, but the trailer was fully engulfed. "We brought out practically every personnel and piece of equipment that we had in the area," said Tallon. "We were unable to rescue the person that was in the house. The house was totally consumed by fire at that time."
The son was taken to the Grady Memorial Hospital burn unit for treatment, but his mother and her dog died in the blaze.
The identities of the woman killed and man injured were not immediately released.
Investigators with the state fire marshal's office were on the scene early Tuesday to help determine what sparked the blaze.
