Andrea Sneiderman taken into custody and facing 8 counts

Andrea Sneiderman taken into custody (John Spink, AJC)

A DeKalb County grand jury has indicted Andrea Sneiderman and charged her with 8 counts in the November 18th, 2010 shooting death of her husband, Rusty. Her husband was gunned down by Andrea’s boss at the time, Hemy Neuman, in front of a day care center in Dunwoody.

Andrea Sneiderman was arrested at her family’s lake home Thursday morning.  Then at a 1:00 p.m. press conference, DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James announced the specific charges against Andrea Sneiderman.   DeKalb County DA James says Sneiderman is now facing:

  • 1 Count - Violation of the RICO Act
  • 1 Count - Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder
  • 1 Count - Malice Murder
  • 1 Count - Insurance Fraud
  • 2 Counts - Making False Statements
  • 2 Counts - Perjury

Sneiderman has been booked at the DeKalb County Jail and now awaits arraignment and trial.

Her former boss, Hemy Neuman, has already been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Russell “Rusty” Sneiderman.  During Neuman’s trial, both the prosecution and defense grilled the widow about her relationship with Neuman. In spite of evidence to the contrary, Andrea repeatedly denied having an affair with Neuman.

At one point during the Neuman trial earlier this year, Andrea was banned from the court, accused of intimidating witnesses.

In May, Rusty’s brother, Steve Sneiderman, filed a wrongful death suit against Andrea, accusing her of conspiring to have Rusty murdered. She countersued her brother-in-law, accusing him of defamation.
