Beagle-mixes all have new homes

Beagles have new homes All 25 dogs, including two new litters, have new homes (Sandra Parrish)
All 25 Beagle-mixes taken in from a filthy house in Dacula this week have new homes. The dogs’ owner, John Soper, agreed to give up the animals after his elderly mother was found by police living in filthy conditions inside their home.
She has been placed with Adult Protective Services while the dogs went to the Gwinnett Animal Shelter.
Within two days, all of the dogs, including two litters born during that time, have been placed. The mother dogs and their five babies went to rescue groups while the others have all been adopted.
Shelter manager Curt Harrell calls it a major feat and credits news media like WSB Radio and social media for getting the word out.
“We just had hundreds of people that came out,” he tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish.
Harrell says because of that, other animals at the shelter are benefiting as well.
“We had a lot of people who came in to look that have actually been coming back to the shelter too even though they knew these first 25 were taken,” he says.
The adoption fee will remain $30 through the end of December and includes all vaccinations, spaying or neutering, and microchipping. The amount is reduced to $20 with five canned goods.
